Mequinenza, the «sea of Aragon», impounds the Ebro just before it meets the Segre and the Cinca. It is an enormous and very stable reservoir, above 1,500 cubic hectometres, and its visual interest lies as much in the wind as in the water level: the cierzo raises waves here that surprise anyone expecting a calm lake.
