Climate in Almeria
Almeria is the driest city in continental Europe. Its semi-arid Mediterranean climate delivers less than 210 mm of rain and over 3,000 hours of sun a year. Summer highs hover around 31 degrees Celsius and winter lows stay above 8 degrees.
The Tabernas Desert, Europes only true desert, mirrors the aridity. Saharan air intrusions are frequent, raising both temperatures and dust levels (PM10).
Rain concentrates in autumn and can be very intense as cut-off lows, triggering torrents along the ramblas of the Sierra de Gador. Sea breezes soften afternoons at Cabo de Gata.
Best time to visit is essentially year-round, avoiding the August heat peak. Use the hourly forecast, UV index and air quality before planning the Alcazaba, the Cabo de Gata beaches or the desert.
