Climate in Badajoz
Badajoz has a continental-influenced Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences, with very hot, dry summers and mild winters. Summer highs regularly exceed 36 degrees Celsius and heatwaves can top 44.
Annual rainfall is around 470 mm, concentrated between November and March. Atlantic depressions entering through the Algarve bring significant rain, while summer is virtually dry.
Across the Extremaduran dehesa, morning fog and dew are common in autumn and winter, benefiting holm and cork oaks. A dry easterly terral can boost the felt heat in summer.
Best time to visit is spring, with mild temperatures and blooming fields. Use the hourly forecast, feels-like temperature and alerts before planning the Alcazaba, the Guadiana river or a side trip to Merida or Caceres.
