Fuenlabrada, south of Madrid, has a continental-influenced Mediterranean climate almost identical to the capitals. Summers are hot and dry, with regular highs above 34 degrees Celsius, and winters are cold with overnight frost.
Annual rainfall is around 430 mm, concentrated in spring and autumn. Afternoon thunderstorms are common in summer, born over the sierra and pushed eastwards by westerly winds.
The Madrid metropolitan heat island also reaches Fuenlabrada, especially on tropical July and August nights. Storm Filomena in January 2021 left more than 30 cm of snow in some areas.
