Climate in Granada
Granada enjoys a continental Mediterranean climate shaped by nearby Sierra Nevada. Summers are hot and dry, with regular highs above 35 degrees Celsius, and winters are cold with frequent frosts, especially in the vega.
Daily thermal range is wide, even in July, thanks to the 685-metre elevation and night-time cold drainage from the sierra. This keeps nights cooler than in other Andalusian cities.
Annual rainfall is around 360 mm, concentrated in autumn and winter. Snow occasionally falls in the city, but is plentiful in Sierra Nevada, where the Pradollano ski resort typically opens from December to April.
Best time to visit is spring and autumn, with mild temperatures and crisp views of the snow-capped peaks. Use the hourly forecast, snow level and alerts before planning the Alhambra, the Albayzin or a ski day.
