Climate in Huelva

Huelva has an oceanic Mediterranean climate moderated by proximity to the Atlantic and the Gulf of Cadiz. Summers are hot with average highs of 31 degrees Celsius and winters mild with lows rarely below 7 degrees.

Annual rainfall is around 510 mm, concentrated in autumn and winter by Atlantic depressions. The easterly levante dries the air and raises the heat index in summer, while the westerly poniente brings sea humidity.

The Guadalquivir and Tinto-Odiel marshes are particularly sensitive to spring tides and SW storms, which can cause sea-driven flooding. Doñana depends on the balance between Atlantic rainfall and aquifers.

Best time to visit is spring, with El Rocio in May or June, and autumn. Use the hourly forecast, wind alerts and tide height before planning the Muelle de las Carabelas or a trip to Doñana.
