Climate in Paris
Paris has an oceanic-to-continental transitional climate, with mild summers (average highs of 25 degrees Celsius) and mild winters (average lows of 3 degrees). Annual thermal range is moderate.
Annual rainfall is around 640 mm, spread throughout the year. Atlantic depressions are frequent but usually deliver gentle rain; summer thunderstorms are sharper, especially in July and August.
Heatwaves have grown more frequent: in 2003 and 2019 the city topped 42 degrees with serious health impacts. The urban heat island is pronounced compared with peripheral forests.
Best time to visit is spring (April-June) and autumn (September-October). Use the hourly forecast, heat alerts and rain probability before planning the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre or a walk along the Seine.
