Climate in Salamanca

Salamanca, at 800 metres on the northern plateau, has a continental-influenced Mediterranean climate with cold winters (average lows of 0 degrees Celsius) and hot summers (average highs of 30 degrees). Daily thermal range is wide.

Annual rainfall is around 380 mm, mainly in spring and autumn. Fog in the Tormes basin is frequent in winter, especially at sunrise.

The north-easterly cierzo and the southerly wind are common features. Summer afternoon storms form over the Sierra de Bejar and Peña de Francia, and can hit the south of the province with hail.
