Climate in Santander
Santander has a mild oceanic climate, with cool, humid summers (average highs of 23 degrees Celsius) and mild winters (lows of 7 degrees). Annual temperature range is very small.
Annual rainfall exceeds 1,200 mm over more than 130 rainy days, peaking in autumn and winter. Atlantic fronts arrive in succession, producing persistent rain.
NW storms can generate big waves at El Sardinero, La Magdalena and the seafront. A warm, dry southerly wind can cause foehn episodes with unusually high winter temperatures.
Best time to visit is June to September. Use the hourly forecast, sea state and shower probability before planning La Magdalena, the Festival Palace or a day at El Sardinero beach.
