Climate in Seville

Seville is one of the hottest cities in continental Europe. Long, very dry summers regularly produce highs above 38 degrees Celsius, and even 45 in heatwaves, while winters are mild and sunny with lows rarely below 3 degrees.

The best time to visit is spring (March to May), with Holy Week and the April Fair, and autumn. July and August require careful planning: sightseeing at dawn and long siestas.

Annual rainfall is around 540 mm, concentrated in autumn and winter, with mostly clear skies the rest of the year. The terral, a hot easterly wind, intensifies heatwaves and dries out the air.

The Guadalquivir river moderates valley humidity, and Atlantic storms entering through the Gulf of Cadiz can drop significant rain in a few days. Use the hourly forecast to plan visits to the Giralda, the Royal Alcazar or the Triana neighbourhood with the best mix of light, heat and possible storms.
