Climate in Tarragona
Tarragona has a coastal Mediterranean climate, with hot, humid summers (average highs of 29 degrees Celsius) and mild winters (lows of 6 degrees). The sea moderates extremes and lifts summer nights.
Annual rainfall is around 520 mm, concentrated in autumn with DANA events. Storms over the pre-coastal ranges can flash-flood ravines such as the Francoli or the Gaia.
The NW mestral and the SW garbi are the prevailing winds. The urban heat island is felt in the old town, while the Miracle beach benefits from sea breezes.
Best time to visit is spring, with Holy Week, and the first half of autumn. Use the hourly forecast, storm alerts and sea temperature before planning the Roman amphitheatre, the Rambla Nova or the Terres de l Ebre.
