Climate in Vigo
Vigo has a mild oceanic climate with direct Atlantic influence due to its location on the ria. Temperatures are gentle year-round, with average August highs of 24 degrees Celsius and January lows of 6 degrees.
Annual rainfall exceeds 1,700 mm, one of the highest figures in Spain, mainly between October and March. Vigo is one of the wettest yet sunniest capitals: August can deliver up to 300 hours of sunshine.
Deep Atlantic depressions can bring wind gusts above 100 km/h and rough seas in the rias. Morning fog at the mouth of the ria is common in summer.
Best time to visit is May to September with stable weather. Use the hourly forecast, rain probability and sea state before crossing to the Cies islands or walking up the Casco Vello.
